The Grove Spot is a “Grand Café” located behind Pommes & Pane, and owned by Olav Smith, a jolly Nederlander. The café has a sunny porch, a large front bar room and back dining room. The Grove Spot is known for its ambience and “gezelligheid” and for its eclectic menu, which can best be described as Continental with an American twist.
Items on the breakfast menu range from a Scottish egg dish to Dutch pancakes to “Uitsmijters” to American-style eggs with potatoes. The choice of appetizers range from chicken fingers and chicken wings to eggrolls, bangers and now also Voorn Croquettes and Bitterballen.
Anytime of the day, you can score the coveted French fries (given a secret Dutch treatment and fried in fries-only fryers) with dipping sauces like curry-ketchup, garlic-mayo and spicy mustard. The same sauces are served with the Voorn Croquettes and Bitterballen.
The lunch and dinner menu features mouthwatering dishes like pan-seared filet of sole, Wiener Schnitzel, pork tenderloin with mushroom-cream sauce, veal cutlet with red cabbage, fajitas, as well as a selection of salads and burgers. Voorn Croquettes have now been added to the lunch and dinner menu as well.
The Grove Spot is the place to be to hang out with friends, have a good time and enjoy delicious food. The staff is friendly and fun. The owner, Olav Smith, is the driving force behind the success of The Grove Spot. He works 7 days a week, 15 hours a day to ensure that all his guests and friends have a good time and are well taken care of.
And now that the café is serving Voorn Croquettes and Bitterballen, there is even more reason to frequent the Grove Spot. It is located in the heart of Coconut Grove at 3324 Virginia Street and is open 7 days a week. Check it out!
