O’Malley’s Sports Bar and Grill offers an impressive menu, that includes BBQ baby back ribs, chicken wings, wraps and grilled chicken sandwiches. The owners, Bob and Marianne Kichoff, have recently added a brand new item to the menu: Voorn Croquettes and Bitterballen (Cocktail Croquettes). They were familiar with this delicious snack and food item, having lived in the Netherlands, where in most pubs and restaurants, it is a staple item on the menu.
On a recent evening, they passed around samples of the bitterballen in their restaurant, to see whether their clientele would be receptive to a new food item.
The reaction was overwhelmingly positive. Orders started pouring into the kitchen and the chef had a hard time keeping up with the demand. Not surprising since the bitterballen taste so good. Voorn Croquettes is not a commercial product, you can actually taste the freshness, spices and herbs that are used in both the croquettes and the cocktail croquettes.
Here are some of the comments from customers at O’Malley’s that evening:
- It is refreshing to have something different on the menu that other pubs don’t offer.
- I like the freshness of the croquettes and cocktail croquettes; you can taste the quality of the ingredients.
- I will definitely order them again next time.
- These croquettes are addictive. I tasted one cocktail croquette and ended up ordering a full serving.
The croquettes and cocktail croquettes (bitterballen) are now available 7 days a week at O’Malley’s Sports Bar and Grill in Margate, Florida. A serving of 5 generous size cocktail croquettes (bitterballen) sells for $5.00, and a croquette (kroket), served on a warm hotdog bun is $6.50.
